Hey guys, I put together a new system this weekend and it has not all gone according to plan. I've research and dug around to try and find a solution to this with no avail.
50% of the time that I boot the machine the SSD is not detected by the BIOS and the machine does not boot. The other half of the time it is detected and it boots flawlessly. When I check the bios when it has not detected it I just see "Not detected" (or similar). The SSD was working flawlessly in the Macbook that it came out of.
Asrock Z87 Extreme4
i5 4670
OWC Mercury Extreme Pro SSD 240gb (SATA 2 version)
The SSD is in SATA 3_0 port and I have a DVD drive in SATA 3_5 port.
So far I have:
- Tried different SATA cables
- Tried different power cables
- Tried different ports and with the DVD drive not connected
- Updated the SSD firmware
- Updated the BIOS on the motherboard
If the machine detects the SSD and boots into windows then it is rock solid, no problems at all. I can just restart it when it doesn't get detected as a work around but it just doesn't leave a good taste in the mouth with a brand new machine..
Thanks
