Hello,im loading windows xp professional on to my laptop i just want a normal configuaration as if it came from the shop with a c and d drive ive got to the partition stage what MB shold i store on the c drive

Why bother with two partitions if you are doing a manual setup? If you want to separate the XP setup from your data, sure but then you need to make sure you have enough space on the C partition for your programs, any future programs you may want to install, temp files, swap file, etc...

I would not use less than a 20 gig partition for the OS and applications.
