I have i7 4790k cpu , z97 asus motherboard, 16gb ram. The system without dedicated gpu runs fine no problem. Once i add any gpu system is slow , freezes even loading google maps it doesnt work screen goes black, but computer is still on. I use 4k samsung monitor. I do disable on board graphics once i install gpu. I update drivers i did fresh windows install few times, my bios is ok. I dont know what else to do. I keep thinking its pci slot. I got nvidia 1060 6gb ram single fan, and same problems. I also tried rog nvidia 4gb when i bought system same thing, I tried playing games not even 5 min screen goes black. I use dvi cable. System is very slow once gpu is added i cant even watch my drone footage or go pro footage. Once i take gpu out and enable on board graphic all good... Any suggestion? 2 graphic card with same issues, coincidence, or 2 bad graphic cards? My power supply is RM750.

When you installed the GPU, did you also install the Nvidia drivers (downloaded directly from Nvidia)?

I assume your motherboard has more than one PCIe x16 slot. If so, have you tried moving the GPU to a different slot?

This is sounding more like a motherboard issue, than anything else right now.
