Hello,
I just build a computer and it doesn't even get to the BIOS Screen. All I get is 5 beeps. This is my list of hardware:
Gigabyte z690 Gaming X (DDR5)
Intel i5 12600
Corsair 2x16 GB
Antec Sonata II case with 500W power supply
Windows OS 11 DVD

When I startup, I get nothing. Gigabyte is difficult to reach for support so any ideas are welcome.
Thank you in advance

What does BIOS beep sound mean? | FAQ - GIGABYTE Global

5 short beeps appear to be 'Real Time Clock malfunction' but have no real idea what that pertains to.

here:
My GIGABYTE motherboard beeps! | PCSPECIALIST

says it is a CPU error which sounds more logical to me in relation to no boot or post.

Perhaps remove the cooler and CPU, make sure the socket is free of debris and has no damage. Check the bottom of the CPU for debris. Reinstall and see if it will operate.

Also, this thread discusses a few options to try:

I will check right now. thanks
I checked all of the connections and they were good. The only problem was the memory was not installed properly, which I fixed.
Now at startup there is:
  1. still no screen of any kind
  2. LEDs light up behind MOBO
  3. get 3 fast beeps before it shuts down
The first time I built a computer it went swimingly. This time it is a disaster, I seriously appreciate the assist.

now I am getting 3 short beeps. Using your first link it means a memory parity error. Not sure what to do about that except for remove and reinstall. Any thoughts?

Suggest removing the RAM, check your mobo information to see what slot to populate first and try the stick individually there.
Where it would be unusual, since you powered up without the RAM fully seated, the hope would be that it didn't damage them or the mobo. Since the memory controller is onboard the CPU it could "still" be an actual problem with the CPU.
I would suggest trying another stick of RAM, but since this is DDR5 I would imagine it being highly unlikely that you or anyone just happens to have a stick sitting around.

I removed the memory and using one stick at a time, I inserted then into the "A2" slot per Gigabyte. It did not work. I will probably get some DDR5 sticks tonight or tomorrow to test this. You are right that I can;'t just ask a friend to borrow one so I will probably go to Best Buy.
I will keep everyone apprised of the situation and I am grateful for the help,

I was able to get some new ddr5 sticks and I still get the 3 short beeps. I am going to try to return all of my hardware and replace them. I certainly do not have the ability to check if the MOBO is not working or if the CPU is not operating properly.
Wish me luck and thank you for your assistance.

Did you connect/check the 8-pin CPU power on your motherboard to your PSU?
I can't tell if I addressed your recommendation. Yes, I checked all of the power connections. Thank you for your help. As I mentioned in another reply, I will be returning all of my hardware and try again with different hardware.
Thank you again.

If you are interested in the resolution... I did return all the hardware and replaced it with ASUS hardware. I was able to build the computer with very few issues. The big issue was with the BIOS settings.

Thank you for your help

If I were going to guess on the previously purchased parts, I would say the RAM sticks not being locked in probably caused a short or spark which then damaged the connectors. I am glad you got the new parts to work correctly and thanks for updating the post. Often the resolution is left to wonder about.
