I own a R9600pro and its was supposed to show 'Viewsonic E70f+ on Radeon R9600 pro' when i was using catalyst 3.2 (the driver which came with the installation CD of the card) drivers on the display propeties settings tab. After i installed catalyst 3.9, it shows this : 'Viewsonic E70f+ on Radeon R9600 series'. My friend has the same card as me and after he installs the 3.9 driver, it shows up as R9600 pro. can smone tell me wad is happening? i have already used detonator destroyer to delete all nVidia driver files on my computer... And when i use Rage 3D, under the overclocking troubleshooting option i see 'Your OS is listing more than one video card installed.' Then under this sentance, it goes :

So what's the problem? Everything looks fine to me.

9600 Series/9600 Pro, driver lable doesn't matter. The differences between 9600 cards are in hardware, not software, same driver is used.

As for 2 cards, that's how Windows configures the second output. The Primary adapter is the VGA port, the Secondary adapter is the DVI port and TV-Out.

But some games can be run smoothly on my friend's computer using the same graphics card but different processor (His is P4 with nforce2 and mine is AMD with VIA)... And i heard thr is a conflict between VIA and ATi cards right? coz with i see DVDs on my computer with the card it will freeze up...

Err... i dun't think so coz he asked me to format my computer when i want to switch my graphics card from nVidia to ATi... He thinks that nVidia drivers can only be removed by formatting but i think i have deleted all using detonator destroyer and Driver Cleaner (both softwares to kill off drivers.)

What Crash is saying is that the differences are system/game related not card related. The P4 has some games it does better in and the AMD XP has some it does better in based on their architecture and extensions.

Run 3Dmk03 on both, that should minimize the system differences. If you are even close to each other, then rest assured it is an R9600Pro in your rig. Also check the clock speed in the details section which should give you all the info about core/memory speeds. What it's called in your CAT version makes little difference to performance, as the CATs don't disable / enable features that separate the two.
