So, I in typical fasion decided to rebuild my computer before game day, great choice... Here is my problem. I have a Hercules Fortissimo sound card (7.1), and I have had it running on my sytem with windows xp many for a year or so. I just bought a new mobo, the Asrock vtk88, and got everything working, save the sound card. When I load the drivers for the sound card, windows crashes hard. It then won't let me load windows again when I reboot unless I go in safe mode, and disable the hercules drivers. What can I do/ what is the problem? Any info would be appreciated, Thanks

Try putting the card in a different slot.

Uninstall the drivers. Reinstall the drivers but make sure you are not connected to the internet. If you have an ethernet connection physically unplug it before installing.

Nah, that isn't the problem, I know to do that, done it 4 times. This is a driver problem between my card, chipset and windows. Thanks though...

You're sure you had your internet connection disabled? Hercules cards won't operate properly with the Microsoft-provided drivers.
