HEVC (H265) Video Converter Recommendation

Can anyone recommend a video converter (preferably free) that allows for conversion to the new hevc h265 standard. I want to convert my entire plex library to the new standard to save space on my hdd.

Was looking at wondershare originally but the issue is that it does not allow me to keep the original video inputs (ex: bitrate). Due to this the default settings will increase the bitrate and increase the end file size (opposite of what I am trying to accomplish). And I do not want to manually input each setting for every video I need to convert.

I hope you have a fast CPU though. Is notoriously slow and compression levels only really noticeably diffferent with particularly big files.

I have a 2500k at 4.2ghz, so nothing crazy but its still got some muscle. I'm hoping to use hardware acceleration off my new rx480.

Both of those support GPU acceleration, and auto bitrates.

Try Handbrake and Super. Both of them are free and quite easy to use.

As for the bitrate, it should be detected automatically. I do not try wondershare, but I use one tool quite easy to use. You may try it. Find Cicever VP9 Converter in Google and there it will provide an easy way to deal with VP9 files. Hope it can be helpful.
