Hey guys building a new monster computer need advice

Hello,

I work with a lot of post-production (university level stuff) programs like adobe after effects, premiere, also some 3D animation with cinema 4d....also I game....so that's like an indication of a great video card and a good amount of ram.


Here is my build:

I would lower the power supply, you won't need 100W, 750W would be fine. Don't get a LGA 1366 CPU, it's getting phased out and it's not as good as it's Ivy Bridge/Sandy Bridge counterparts. Get an i7-2600K if you plan on overclocking, if not, get the i7-3770. Getting these mean you'd have to change the motherboard, go for a Z77 chipset. If you're not overclocking then drop the H60 for a Coolermaster Evo 212+. Then put the money you save from the processor and the power supply into a better graphics card, or an SSD.

Actually what is your budget? That's very important. For the programs that you want to use, I would recommend Sandy Bridge-E (cheapest is i7-3820, mid is i7-3930K and high-end is i7-3960X), in an X79 motherboard. Also you might want to get 16 GB of RAM if you can afford it (this is cheap), and lastly an SSD, but only if you have some spare money since it's not very essential.

Two 560 Ti's 2GB each are not bad at all, but I don't think you need that much ram on your card, and maybe a single GTX 680 will outperform it and consume much less power (and I believe it will be around the same price as those two cards). Maybe even a GTX 670? Don't know about this.

for video editing work yo'll probably want to upgrade to 4x8gb =32gb ram, and add another hdd or two so that you have at least a scratch disk preferably a system disk, scratch disk, and data disk. You do this so the drive can concentrate on doing just 1 thing. With only a single drive you have the heads moving to read a system file, then moving to get video data, moving again to write edited video data, moving again to read more data, moving again to write data. All that 'moving adds delays. I have 3 raid 0's in my editing rig.
