Hey guys i have started getting into building pcs and i picked my motherboared and cpu

But i am now going to pick out the heatsink and cpu fan,does the cpu fan and heatsink only need to fit in the socket to be compatible with the cpu or no

CPU cooler has to:
- fit into motherboard socket - so if you have say 1151 socket motherboard, you need cooler that supports 1151 socket. Luckily, pretty much all new coolers are built to accommodate all existing sockets.
- has enough cooling power (TDP) to keep your CPU cool under load.

Solution
The cooler does need to fit the motherboard socket correctly. It also needs to make sense with the case and visual expectations you have for the completed build. There are RGB coolers that may not make sense if your case is closed with no viewing windows. There are very good air coolers that stand tall and may not allow you to close your case door. They may be uglier than you like also.
