Hello i just got a nvidia 980 and when i right click on my desktop and click screen resolution i can select 3840x2160 but it says 1920x1080 recommended.

i forgot what kind of monitor i got, does this mean i can run at 3840? when i select it everything on my desktop gets real small and my mouse gets bigger. i was wondering how i can find out if my monitor can run 2k or even 4k, i am certain i didnt get a 4k monitor tho.

Solution
If it's telling you that 1920x1080 is the recommended output, then that's probably the native resolution(this is all after you install drivers of course). If not, install your drivers ;D. Also, you can check the Serial code and put into google and check on there just to be sure.

if your monitor is 1920x1080 resolution, that is the limit. the video card can output a signal to the larger screen size if you were to plug one in. the physical pixels in your monitor will be the absolute you can use. you can try the other resolutions, your screen will go black for the timeout period and revert back to what it can show.

ya i tried 3840x2160 and nothing went black just smaller

think of it like this you can't fit two feet (3840x2160) in one shoe (1920x1080).

ok thanks
