So I am going to build a computer for the first time. I have enough expirence with computers that I feel confident that I can do it, and I have one or two people I can ask for help if I do get lost or make a mistake. I am going to be using this computer for school, and maybe some light gaming, Probably nothing more intense than minecraft. I would also like to be able to upgrade this computer in the future so it can do more gaming, but not for awhile.
So this is what I am planning on it just barely falls into my budget of $300:

Hard drive: 1tb that I already own

CPU: Intel Core i3-4150, http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819116995&cm_re=i3_haswell-_-19-116-995-_-Product

GPU: starting of with integrated graphics from the cpu, though I would like to ad a dedicated graphics card at somepoint.

RAM: 1 stick, 4gb http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231313&cm_re=ram-_-20-231-313-_-Product

Mobo: http://www.amazon.com/MSI-Motherboard-Motherboards-B85-G41-MATE/dp/B00D12OASW/ref=cm_cd_ql_qh_dp_t

PSU: 460w, http://www.amazon.com/Cooler-Master-Elite-Power-RS460-PSARI3-US/dp/B002G1YPHK/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1412360812&sr=8-3&keywords=450w+power+supply

Case: http://www.amazon.com/Sentey-Gs-6008-Stealth-Gaming-Computer/dp/B00MNSFBQU/ref=sr_1_1?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1412360885&sr=1-1&keywords=Computer+case

I have a few questions:

1. The motherboard has DDR3 1333 in the title, but says that it suports ddr3 1600, Does that mean that while you can put in DDR3 1600 ram it will only run at the sppeed of ddr3 1333 ram? If so will this motherboard get the full ddr3 1600 speeds, and work with everything else:

2. Will the two fans that come with the case meet my cooling needs?

3. I know that its better to have two 2gb sticks than one 4gb sticks of ram, but it's not that big of a deal right? (adding another stick will be the first thing I upgrade)

4. I have a moniter, keyboard, mouse, so I won't have to buy anything else will I?

either of those mobos are fine. they will both run 1600mhz ram at the rated speed.

for the love of any that is holy, forget about the PSU. its garbage. waiting to become a door-stop or paperwight, and will probably take a component with it on its firey way to component hell.

1x4gb ram isnt that big of a deal. the performance difference between single and dual channel ram are minimal, though at some point in the reasonably near future i would suggest throwing a second stick in there for 8gb.

i hate cases that have anything less than 120mm exhaust fans. the one you chose has an 80mm exhaust fan. sufficient, granted, it doesnt seem like your rig will produce that much heat..but still.

dont forget about a HD and OS!

edit: just reread and saw HD is already accounted for. oops!

Hey guys thanks for answering what do you think of theese instead:

case: http://www.amazon.com/Antec-VP-450-Energy-Certified-Supply/dp/B004IZN3K2/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1412365426&sr=8-1&keywords=450w+power+supply

and this PSU: http://www.amazon.com/Antec-VP-450-Energy-Certified-Supply/dp/B004IZN3K2/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1412365426&sr=8-1&keywords=450w+power+supply

And I have some expirience with arch linux, so I was going to use that, and maybe add windows later

Listing it as a case was my mistake, there is no VP450 case as far as I can tell... I meant to put this case: http://www.amazon.com/Sentey%C2%AE-Gs-6006-Z-tron-Gaming-Computer/dp/B00MNSIR66/ref=sr_1_13?ie=UTF8&qid=1412365609&sr=8-13&keywords=computer+case

I don't have any attachment to that company, I'm just looking at cases on amazon, that meet, my desires/price range and have good reviews.

Ok, well I'll probably just go with the first case then, and upgrade my case if I upgrade my rig to make to much more heat...

Thanks guys, Ya'll are the best

Good for you! Building everything but the GPU is the secret best way to build a PC.

No advantage to having it on top. Worse all around.

On bottom you get better cooling to the computer AND PSU, MUCH MUCH better cable management, more space, proper airflow.
