hey

Well of course it runs FEAR slow. A 6600GT is a small budget card, so the best settings to run games on it, is probably low at best. Maybe medium sometimes.

Agreed, the 6600gt is a budget card, and fear is a very graphical intensive game. Those 2 factors don't pair up nicely.

I have a 6600GT PCi-E and I can run F.E.A.R @ an average frame rate of 50-60 fps @ 1024x786 with max to med setting and soft shadows tunred ON and Antialiasing : 4x and FSAA x16.

I must add my 6600GT is OC'ed to 575mhz core and 1300mhz for the mem. STD setting are 500/1000.

dunno about the 6600 Gt, but can run doom 3 at avg fps of 60 at high quality and resolution with my 9600 pro (oc'ed).

i ran fear smoothly at 45 fps at med-high settings (no soft shadows, which virtually does nothing but eat up frames when turned on).

am i the only one gettin this??????

well one thing i'm damn sure of is that 6600GT had the best pice/performance once.

not recommended to buy NOW that is.

Well, he isn't getting both FSAA and soft shadows to work at the same time. But still, it must be more medium than maximum settings as digitlife averaged 18 fps on a 6600GT at 10x7 max aa/af and no softshadows. 18fps ave is hardly playable. But dumbing things down to medium and FSAA disabled because of soft shadows... that would help. http://www.digit-life.com/articles2/digest3d/1205/itogi-video-f-wxp-aaa-1024-pcie.html

Shoot, [H] only found the 6800GT and 7800GS to be 800x600 cards in Fear, and they spank a 6600GT. http://enthusiast.hardocp.com/article.html?art=OTYxLCwsaGVudGh1c2lhc3Q=

6600GT is a great card for someone who just wants to play games and doesn't care too much about eye candy. It will run any game out there at a good framerate with decent settings. And as said above, bang for your buck, it's a steal.

Well, the 6600GT is a decent card and for ages it was the best bang for a little over $100 USD. But now there are faster cards selling for equal or less money. X800's and GF6800's would be a better option for that price now.

Yep, the 6600 GT is a decent card, but just over $100 there's the X800 GTO 128 which is better.

For a couple bucks more you're in X800 GTO 256 and 6800 GS territory, and in PCI-express for under $200 there's the X850 XT which will smoke them all.
