[SOLVED] HFSJ formatted SATA HDD not recognised in BIOS

My HFSJ formatted SATA hard drive is not recognised in the ASUS UEFI BIOS.
It does show up when I connect it as an external drive via USB using MacDrive10 software but when I plug it in internally it does not even show up in BIOS.

It's a new ASUSPrime 350-Plus motherboard. I've tried plugging in to different SATA slots and tried different leads with the same result. The corresponding slot shows as empty in BIOS. The 1TB hard drive (Western Digital WD10EACS) was bought in 2008 and is formatted to use in a mac (HFSJ). I'm assuming that it should show up in BIOS in this state but please let me know if I'm wrong.

If anyone has some insight as to why it's not working I'd be very grateful.

Cheers,

Steve

While it may not show up in the bios you can either clean the drive and reformat or access the drive to remove data if needed using THIS tool that has a free trial period.

To clean the drive, either do a secure erase on another computer with the drive attached or a clean command in diskpart in a command prompt box.

Do you need to access any data or just want to make the drive usable on a PC now?

I do have about 700GB of data on there I need to access and I'm not sure how I would go about transfering that somewhere else while I format the drive without buying another 1TB (In which case I wouldn't need my current one anymore lol). I'm wondering why it doesn't show up in BIOS. I've not found any info on why it wouldn't just work so I'm a bit stumped.

The tool you linked, is that better than MacDrive10 in that it will enable me to use the drive even if it doesn't appear in BIOS?

I've not used MacDrive10, only Paragon. I would backup the data to another drive if it is important before doing anything else, as you seem to have access when using a USB connection. Perhaps a friend or family member has a USB drive with enough space to help you out for a while -- although any useful data should be backed up to avoid loss.

You will have to try Paragon to determine if it will work, but I've often used their various products on drives that did not show up in the bios screen with success.
