HGST 4tb NAS drive seems slow. Benchmarks show low numbers.

I just installed the drive recently on Win10 as a single storage drive (no RAID) but when I run any benchmarks on it, it seems slower than what I've seen online. I'm getting somewhere around 110 MB/s for both read/write speeds. Any ideas what might be going on? I used AS SSD, ATTO, and CrystalDiskMark and they all reported the same.

Here's my system info:

Core i7-2600k overclocked to 4.3ghz
Gigabyte z77x-up5th motherboard
G.Skill Ripjaws 8gigs ddr3 1600 ram
Windows 10 64bit
Geforce GTX 670

Hi there decko9999,

Is that your OS drive? If this is the case, then the benchmarks would not be that indicative.

The things you can do are:
- Try a different SATA port with different cables.
- Update your MOBO's drivers.
- Test the drive: http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/forum/282651-32-best-diagnostic-testing-utility

In case you still get similar results, you can attach the drive as a secondary one to another machine and run some benchmark testing.

Cheers,
D_Know_WD :)

Thanks for the reply. This is not the OS drive. It's just used to store media. I've tried different SATA ports without any change in the results. I used the HGST provided diagnostic software and there are no errors with the drive. Drivers are all up to date and I tried the Intel Rapid Storage drivers as well with no change. I currently don't have another machine to try this on so I can't test it out unfortunately.

So I've tried changing the cable and changing the SATA port (even tried the Marvell controller), but nothing has changed. Drive is still benchmarking slow. Any other ideas?
