I have a hhd with my OS and all other games and apps, I want to get a ssd to boot faster but I dont think I can just swap the OS onto it, or can I. Also I heard intel optane would give a nice boost.

Solution
Then I'd say it might be worth it to go with a PCIe M.2 SSD (Don't confuse this with a SATA M.2 drive when looking around. SATA and PCI are totally different when it comes to performance, even though they use the same form factor) if your board supports M.2 PCI storage devices. Otherwise, the safer bet is likely to just stick with a standard SATA SSD device. Something like the Samsung 860 EVO is a very good, reliable option.
Optane needs to be supported by the motherboard at the hardware level. If your system is more than two years old it does not support it. If your system is not more than two years old, it still may not support it.

Optane is still a very early tech anyhow and is unlikely to be the solution you are looking for.

Moving from a HDD to an SSD likely is.

You can usually migrate your entire OS installation from a HDD to an SSD using the free version of Macrium Reflect.

What are your current system specs, CPU, motherboard, OS version, etc?

What kind of budget do you plan to spend on an SSD upgrade?
