Hi Recently I scanned my two portable harddrives with CheckDisk, By
connect it to my computer and check whether there is a problem by running Chkdsk like this:
Right Clicked my drive in My Computer > Properties > Tools > Check Now > Mark “Automatically fix file system errors" and "Scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors".

I did that for one drive, I don't think there were any bad sectors to be found but if there was would that of effected the quality of my videos on my harddrive like made them a bit blurry or fuzzy or anything, or would it just of deleted the files on the bad sectors in which case I would of noticed them gone.

The other drive had videos on it too, except when I ran the scan I did'nt click any of the options it scanned to the end, but then froze the process after waiting a long time I eventually just turned the computer of, even though it had'nt finished scanning would that of effected the videos on the harddrive?

What if the options were turned on and I interrupted the process would that of effected the files like their quality or just delete them or make them unplayable.

Please be very specific on your answers, I worry a lot and I really need your expert help.

So basically does scanning effect the quality of the videos or music on the harddrive, either scanning with the options enabled or scanning with them not enabled, and would turning the computer of during a scan damage the video files quality or just delete them or make them unreadable?

Is this the right section to ask?

When running chkdsk /r (which is what you are doing when you run that with recover bad sectors is checked); If the videos are contained in bad sectors, the quality will improve, if it cant recover the data the file remains but in its current unusable or glitchy state.
The only thing to watch out for with chkdsk is if a file does dissapear after running it, you can find it located in C:\found.xxx (usually a hidden folder so you will need to go into folder options in the control panel and enable hidden files.)

If you are experiencing issues with video quality, chkdsk is not the culprit,
More likly a codec has been installed that is incompatible with other codecs installed on the system, or some one has been playing with your video cards driver settings (CCC for AMD/ATI, nVidia Control Panel for nVidia chips, intel has some sort of driver control applet in the control panel as well as some of the other graphics chips.)
