Hi everyone first post :) M.2 Boot drive impasse :(

Hi all,

Am looking to build this as my first build but I need advice please

CASE - Raven
PSU - Strider 500W SFX-L
MOBO - Z97I-PLUS
CPU - i5 K or G3258 while I save
GPU - 750Ti
RAM - 8GB
COOLER - ???
BOOT DRIVE - ??? - I want my boot drive as a M.2 128GB SSD but there is two (or more?) protocols. One that uses 2X lanes and one that uses 4X lanes.

First, What is the max lanes this Z97i MOBO can handle?

Second, Samsung or Plextor. Do either use 4X lanes?

Third, do either have native boot support? I heard some cards lag because of boot order or something :S ???

Any general advice would be appreciated

Z97i uses x2 lanes so M.2X2

Only samsung uses X4 ATM

Only Plextor has out if box support unless your x99
