Hi, I bought my new laptop without an operating system and I\'m trying

i, I bought my new laptop ( Toshiba Satellite C660-b080) without an operating system installed on it and I'm trying to install Windows Xp but keep getting the following error message while it's installing the Windows xp drivers.


The Blue Screen of Death.

I get the "A problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer" message.

Tech Ifo : The error message is
STOP : 0x0000007B (0xF78D663C, 0xC0000034, 0x00000000, 0x00000000)


Can somebody tell me a way around this? I heard I might have to reformat the hard drive but I don't know how to get into the menu to do it.

Hi,

Apparently, the hard drive is a SATA one. In the BIOS, try to change the configuration of the hard drive, from SATA to IDE (or Compatible).

Then try again to start from your CD of XP.

PS - if Windows did not install, you won't get into any menu.

I would like to know how to change the SATA mode to IDE emulation/
compatible mode in the bios

On this model, it seems that you have to press F2 to access to the BIOS (it also can be Del. or F1).

I don't know the menu of your BIOS, but it can be something like this: Advanced - SATA controller - choose Compatible

French menu, but it supposed to be something like this one.

I think you have an issue with your keyboard too... Some letters are missing...

I'm looking for the wifi drivers for my Toshiba satellite c660 laptop.

my newly installed windows 7 home premium 64Bit doesn't identify any wifi device, and after installing a driver from a different source my computer gets stuck while trying to connect to a network.

Do you have any idea what can I do? How to get my internet running?
I really need some help...

Search there, I don't see a listing for the C660 on their site though, you may need to localize it by your country.

It may be the same model as another one, try the C655 drivers.

If you don't find it on the Toshiba website, you can try this website: http://www.ma-config.com/en (install the .exe file and start the detection).
