Hi, I have problem with win 7 machine, after giving static ip it's not communicating with any of the devices in network.. i checked the lan connection fine and no issues with switch setup..

I suspect Lan drivers issue.. but cant install lan drivers as i can insert USB drive into it..

What are your subnet and IP address range for the network and the PC's? For them to communicate properly, they must be on the same subnet (i.e. subnet = 255.255.255.0), and the IP address range must be the same (i.e. IP = 192.168.0.XXX, where XXX = the IP addresses of the computers).

DHCP is not configured for this machine, and Subnet is fine.. it does'nt ping to default gateway..

yes.. i was trying to ping the ip which belongs to same subnet..

Also verify that when static IPs were assigned that the DNS addresses were entered as well on the client computers, along with the default gateway and subnet mask.

A common issue I see in win 7 (any flavor) is that when shifting networks, or even when a hiccup on the network occurs the default behavior is to shift both network cards and protocols (wireless to/from wired)

What this means to your issue is that I see IPv6 fail-out rather than fail-over to IPv4.

Simple solution: disable the check box to IPv6 in the network adapter.

So long as your IP's are correct to get to your DNS/router and there is not a networking conflict (MAC or IP) it will work without stutter. If you have DHCP on network do not set your IP. Let DHCP do the configuration. Oh, and good luck!

even after formatting it shows un identified network.. unchecked ipv6.. restarted..

OK, then for a detailed solution,

we need these things to properly ID your issues:

1. What is general network setup, eg. cablemodem/router to switch to 4 pc's where 1 pc is wireless and 3 are wired...

2. What is internal ip of network router and DHCP setup, eg. router is 192.160.0.1, DHCP is leasing 50 addresses in this range starting at 192.168.0.2

3. What are IP's of each networked device connected to router? you may find your solution before you get back to us if you are able to map this out! You CANNOT have 2 devices with the same IP on network, and you cannot have any device in the 192.168.x.x network using an address ending in .0 or .255 This includes the router, if you manually set that up. Useable addresses are 192.168.x.1-254 (and excluding the one you set on the router)

Oh and I forgot, for your DNS set the first selection to the IP of your router.

If you wish for redundancy set the next IP in DNS to 8.8.8.8 which is Googles DNS, and you can set any further IP's in your DNS list to valid DNS servers for say, the ones that your internet service provider set you up with, or even OpenDNS's servers!

So, this is a new pc, new network connection? you said it can't even ping the gateway. are you sure the network connection works at all?

it's 226 subnet.. and router ip is 192.168.226.1.. Dns server ip 172.16.x.x..

I'm a bit confused here! Your IP is 192.168.226.1? That's a public IP! How do you keep the traffic inhouse?

All IP addresses with the first two octets 192.168 are actually private IP addresses.

I am going to make some assumptions based on the limited information you responded with:

-Your Router IP 192.168.226.1
-Your PC IP 192.168.226.2-254 (the 2-254 is the range of valid IP's to choose from, just don't conflict with an IP on another machine.
-You CAN ping to 192.168.226.1
-Your router can find the route to your DNS server, ie you can also ping 172.16.x.x ( please fill in the x's with a number as network cards don't like variables! 😛 ) I will just assume you meant 172.16.101.202

You said it DOES NOT ping to DG, meaning you cannot reach your default gateway of 192.168.226.1
-This means you are not either connected to the network ( check cable, look for blinking lights on network card to indicate you have link to switch/router ) or your VLAN association is incorrect and your traffic is getting dropped as you are not on the same VLAN as your router!

Oh, sorry I forgot to assume one other thing... that you are on a small home network.

If not and say you are on a larger scale managed network then you may have something like port security on your switch/router that has detected tampering on the network and disabled your access. If this is the case you will ABSOLUTELY have to contact your local IT professional. 😛
