i tried unigine superposition in extreme and it run fine i guess, score 3501, but in bf 4 the framerate its a little bit weird, it goes from 130 to 70 and even 60, and in some ocations 55, is this normal? i play with resolution scale at 150% 1080p, i tried to put scale resolution to 100% but for my surprise the performance it almost the same, i´m worried cause almost all gameplays i found in yt the framerate is above 100 all the time this is my rig:

i5 6500 (stock)
asus strix rog 1070
8 gb ( only 1 stick, i´m not running in dual channel maybe this is the issue)
nzxt 700w hale

pd: i think that everything its ok, the game runs like a charm at 150% around 70, 80 and 100, but its weird that changin resolution scale to 100% the performance is almost the same

Solution
Very normal, BF4 is the first game to finally put i5's to rest, Not even an overclocked i5 7600k can push a 1070 to its limits in bf4

It's his CPU not ram.. I would be happy playing at such decent frames with 150% res scale on decent settings with a stock mid end i5.

thanks, im going to get another stick soon and then would see, almost all gamplays i found they never get under 100 and in some cases constant 130 fps with nearly the same rig, maybe its due to those guys pushing their rig to the limits, i got everything at stock, i would try getting another stick, thx

yeah maybe you are right, i always get paranoid about something going wrong, but i thought that putting res scale to 100% the frame rate would never get under 100, in fact that doesnt affect the performance, the game run almost the same in 100% and 150%

Yeah its because the CPU is bottlenecking the GPU, you will see same frames no matter what settings. low - ultra should all produce similar frames, This is one of the only games out there that will make your i5 struggle, i think you will be fine with that CPU for some time to come !

the i5 will bottleneck a 1070 in cpu intensive games. the reason you see little differnce in performance when upping the res is because you are simply moving the bottleneck from the cpu to the gpu. instead of the cpu holding the card back, the higher res if pushing the card hard enough that its maxed out and the cpu can keep up.

so your options are... deal with some cpu bottlenecking at 1080p, game at higher res, or get an i7.

game at a higher res? I don't think you understand, you are thinking this will shift the usage to the GPU more but you are wrong, the CPU needs to be able to run the GPU, adding load (higher res) to the GPU would only cause more issues.

nah, im fine in fact i just bought the i5 along with the card, i updated my old fx 8350, is it worth the upgrade beetween the 8350 to the i5 6500?

Na the i3 enough until you get into higend GPU's. The RAM is effecting min FPS. With a 1070 on 1080p benchmarks have its min at 100fps+. Look at the benchmarks. Its a stock i5 benchmark.

dont make me panic D: im going to get that extra stick, but i dont think that would solve the under 100 problem, the game runs very smooth at 150% between 70 and 100

KK here is 2 quotes from game nexus review. The first is about dual channel. The second is on a fresh install test bench. You probable have lots of stuff installed pushing that number to the edge of 8GB's at the very least. Trust me the RAM upgrade is the way to go. Cant tell you how many come here with the same issues with 8GB's. Plus only time until the game makers updates force the issue.
A single stick did show an FPS reduction resultant of the slower speed.
The working set was approaching 7GB at times.

youre wrong. if you have a cpu bottleneck upping the res will reduce or even erase it since the gpu will have to work harder... essentially allowing the cpu to catch up. instead of the gpu being held back, itll be full utilized because it wont be able to outpace the cpu.

and op, while an i5 isnt ideal for a 1070(especially at 1080p) its a hell of a lot better than an fx chip.
