Hi! I just wanted to know if the following build would work for gaming:

-CPU: AMD FX-8320
-GPU: MSI Radeon R9 270 2GB
-Mobo: Gigabyte GA-970A-DS3P ATX
-RAM: Patriot Viper Xtreme 8GB 1600Mhz
-PSU: Solid Gear 650W

If you can, bump the GPU up to a 270X. Also, for the PSU, get an XFX or Seasonic. They are extremely reliable and quiet.

Thanks a lot! It's only that everything but the GPU comes in a barebone kit on rebate so I can't really change that part... And as of the possibility to swap the 270 for a 270X, I've heard it is not absolutely necessary, because overclocked performances of the 270 get pretty close the the reference 270X, in the MSI version (Linus Tech Tips). Any further opinions about that?

If you are confident in your overclocking skills, then yes, a 270 can be overclocked to 270x speeds. But if you can swing $230, you should consider a 280: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814202099
