Hi, I'm trying to get a new desktop prebuilt!

But I don't really know what really fits me..

I will do some heavy gaming along with solidworks and other CAD programs.

My budget is about $1000 + - 100 dollars! and preferrably from canada website cause i live in canada.

I was thinking these two:

Hi Jason, welcome to the forums.

First off, you have 2 things that clash VERY violently. You want to hardcore game and run CAD, but want to buy a prebuilt. Neither PC will game well at all, and are both overpriced.

For a CAD/gamer machine, the best thing you can do is build yourself. It will be cheaper in the end, and have MUCH higher quality parts. You'll also be able to fit quite a nice PC in for $1000

So with that in mind, please fill in this form http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/261222-31-build-advice It tells us what you need, and what you can afford.

So, please consider it. I know building a PC sounds hard, but it's not. Not at all.

The HP will be the better of the two since the GPU (HD6770) is a good midrange gaming card and should handle CAD work reasonably well.

I use Solidworks almost every day and can tell you it does NOT run at it's best using a game oriented GPU and will be in violation of SW recommendations allowing them to tell you to piss off if you report problems to them. Conversely, games don't run well using SW recommended GPUs. I don't believe there's a way to get optimum performance for both scenarios on the same machine. If you are like most people you will ignore me completely so I wish you good luck.
