I am going to spend a pretty penny on this rig and need to make sure everything is kosher. I've done some research and things seem ok but I thought it to be wise to leave this up to some experts. This is my build:

MSI GTX 970 Gaming 4G
Corsair Carbide 400R
ASRock z97 Extreme6/3.1
Rosewill Clacier-850M
i7-4790K
G.SKILL Sniper Series 32GB (4x8GB) DDR3 2400 (PC3 19200)
1TB WD Blue7200 RPM
Kingston SSDNow V300 240GB
ASUS VG278HE 27"

Let me know what you think and if they will all work together. I just heard horror stories of people buying the wrong stuff and shafted... Any input is greatly appreciated! Thanks, Fellas!

If you ever have extra money that you just have to spend on your rig, go for liquid cooling. You can do an all in one system, or look at installing a custom setup. If you still have money left over, you could look at aesthetics like making your parts match so they look good in the case.
You really need to add a CPU cooler. A simple air cooler for ~$40 should do just fine. For reference, the Cooler Master Hyper 212 Evo is a super popular cooler. It may not be the best or cheapest, but a lot of people love it.

I would dial back your RAM to 16GB. If you're just gaming, you'll never use anywhere close to 32GB of ram. You would be just wasting your money. Perhaps use that saved money for the CPU cooler.

Thanks! I actually added RAM bc I had about $70-$100 to spend. I tried putting it into a better processor but the 5820 was worse? At least according to reviews.... I couldn't really fit that anywhere else so I picked the RAM. I like your advice and I'll take it. Much appreciated!

What do you suggest for a good (safe) liquid cooling system?

I also do not plan on OCing. Do you think liquid is still necessary?

If you don't plan on overclocking, I wouldn't bother with liquid cooling. An air cooler would be the most I would suggest, and you could even get by without that. When you're not overclocking a CPU cooler will just help prolong the life of your CPU by keeping the temps super low. I would just stick with my first suggestion of an air cooler, that way you don't have to order one if you wake up one day and decide you do wanna overclock.

If you're absolutely sure you will never overclock, save some money and take a step back on the CPU. Consider picking up one of the non-K sku's like the 4790 or the 4770. You should save about $30-$40 by going with either one of them, and you won't really notice a huge dropoff going down to 3.6Ghz from 4Ghz.

One of my goals when I was picking the parts was to go far with it. I did not want to have to buy another processor, for instance, for quite a while. Do you think that if I downgraded, i would regret it?

Yes, but not for the reason you might think. Like I said, there isn't a huge difference between the 4790K and the 4970 or the 4770. On paper they seem like quite a jump backward, but in real world use they are very similar. It's not like you would sit there and say "Oh I wish I would have bought the 4790K so my games would load 3 tenths of a second faster."

If you saved the $30 and went with the 4970 or the 4770, you could regret the decision simply because you will know in your mind that you could have spent more money for just a little more performance. It's a mental thing. You might sit and wonder if you could have done better. If you are concerned by that thought, go with the 4790K. At least then you'll know you couldn't have gotten anything better without upgrading to a newer socket.

Also, if you do decide to go with the 4970 or the 4770, look for a H-series motherboard instead of the Z-series. Z series motherboards are meant for overclocking and they often come with a higher price tag. If you choose a non-K CPU then you wouldn't need the Z-series motherboard, and could save more money by looking at the H97 motherboards.

See! This is the kind of advice I was looking for. You are awesome. I'll post the new (modified) build soon and let me know what you think at that point. Thanks for helping my perfect-ize my build!

G.SKILL 16GB DDR3 1600
MSI Z97S (I needed the SLI option for future)
Corsair Carbide 400R
GTX 970 Gaming 4G
Rosewill 850M
i7-4790 3.6GHz
1TB HDD
CM Storm Devastator Keyboard mouse combo
ASUS VG278HE
DVDR OPtical drive
Cooler Master Hyper 212 Evo
Kingston SSD v300

Now, I have about $150+ to put somewhere else. Any suggestions? Anything I need to change about the build? Thanks again!

Spend that extra money for a mechanical keyboard and a good mouse, like the G502.

Sounds good. What do you thiink of the build? Will everything work together fine?

Yup, seems pretty good to me. GL with it!

Thanks man!
