It depend not only on your CPU, your other specs(ram,gpu,psu) are determined whether your system can run MW2 or not...

Since Turion X2 is a mobile CPU and i haven't seen any laptops with a great graphic card with this CPU,then you can run MW2 on medium settings.
What are the other the specs of the laptop and the desktop ?

Turions run cooler than mobile Athlons. Basically, the Turion is a cooler binned part. As far as comparing it to the desktop it depends on which Turion model you're talking about. Of course the GPU on your laptop will also affect your gaming experience, or lack there of.
