Hide Start Menu All Apps list

The windows update just messed up my old start menu. I used to have non-full screen start menu with All Apps hidden and showed as a shortcut along with my other folders.
After the update, the All Apps list appeared next to my tiles. It is so annoying I don't need the list at all. How do I hide the list so that it won't take up the space of my start menu screen?

well, I just rolled back to previous build, problem solved.

Until windows update downloads the update again. It doesn't feel like an adequate solution.

IT seems an odd move on Microsofts account, I don't know who thought it was a good idea. They could have added the menu as a button on the thing column on the left of start menu, that would be much more streamlined
