Hello I Have a Phenom I 9500 Cpu and just installed windows 7 and then upgraded to windows 10, fresh reinstall, my pc also came with windows vista 32 bit, but it works well with windows 7 64 bit

and i never checked my cpu before but its like around 160 just ideling, and installing small programs.

my pc model is a HP Pavillion Media Center m8400f pc with a upgraded graphics card and power supply, has 4.50gb or ram also. never had a issue like i said with this on windows 7, although i never checked cpu usage.

other things (idle usage):

RAM: 2.21/4.50gb
CPU: 16%
DISK: 0%
Network 24.20%

CPU: 150*F
MainBoard 100*F
GPU: 105*F
Fan Speed 4245 rpm

150F idle is a little on the hot side. Put any load on it and your temps are going to spike dangerously high.
Suggest cleaning any dust out the CPU cooler and re-applying thermal paste. Also check case airflow.
Alternatively, replace with a good 3rd party cooler.
Most likely the CPU was also running hot under Windows 7 as you do admit you never checked.

ok, so i dont have any thermal paste, but i took out the heatsink and blew on it, and the temp is around like 120F to about 130* idle, just using a browser. I will try to get some thermal paste when i get about $10, and see if that brings it under 100F once I put some artic silver on it.

Other:

Ram: 1.81/4.50
CPU 26%
Disk: 10%
Network: 0.00%

CPU: 123*F
MainBoard 127*F
GPU: 113*F
Fan Speed: 1744 rpm
