High CPU temperatures

Hi guys,i recently changed the thermal paste on my cpu (i7 4790k), to arctic silver 5, i did it as i wanted some after market paste for my corsair hydro h60, but ive noticed the temperatures are actually higher at load, idle temperatures are pretty similar to what they were before between 40 and 50 C, but the full load temperatures are way higher, before i never went of 80 C at full load now its nearly 100 C, ive cleaned and reapplied the silver 5 to see if it was an application error but no change, can anyone help explain why the temperatures are so much higher, thanks.

100 C ?! jesus man you can burn that i7 4790k are the fans on the radiator working good?

possible problems:
1) too much paste: make sure only a small dot is applied on the center of the chip, let the pressure from the block spread it out. Also make sure the surface and cooling block were completely clean before applied.
2) like xSamaru suggests, the fans might be faulty.
3) check the connector for the temp. sensor. make sure its in securely.
4) check the temp with several different programs to make sure its accurate.
