Question High cpu temps playing, low when stress test

Setup: i7-7820hk Alienware 15 r3 with 1080 max q.
When i run prime95 temps are stable around 75-80 degrees. But when i jump into rocket league temps jumps to 90 plus after just one game. Cpu usage around 30-40 percent. Any ideas?

FIrst guess would be the added heat of the GPU when gaming...

You might try lowering all-core clock speeds by 100-200 MHz via Intel's XTU if CPU temps seem marginal, unless you are able to find a way to ramp up fan speeds.. (XTU often allows a core voltage offset, where maybe a negative offset of .05V might help as well...; as every chip is different, you can experiment with assorted offsets to see if it induces stability issues; in the event of a lockup, all settings changed within XTU will revert to stock/default if there has not been a proper shutdown...)

I have offset at .150, stable for now. Atleast down to 85-90 ingame, fan ramped up with hwinfo64. Ran a gpu bench, gpu stable at 80, cpu at 90 plus after a while. Do you think new thermal paste would help? Laptop was new in 2018.
