Hello community
I have this problem with my cpu the i5 7400 @3.00ghz, it is running all the time at 100% which is causing my computer to lag and sometimes shutdown. I have used different anti virus to scan such as windows defender, Avast, AVG and malware bytes. All of them said there was nothing wrong but there is, also just to see if it would work I have reset the computer to a new clean windows to see if that would help but did not. The only thing that I see that is using it is "System idle process" at 99. I am wondering if anyone can help with this problem thanks
PC Specs
i5 7400
8gb DDR4 2400mhz
1TB HDD
600W PSU

I dont think that is reading correctly but the opposite so if the CPU usage is 1% the idle process will be at 99%..I found this on Tom's

Read the process description - "Percentage of time the processor is idle".
This will show the opposite of what is being used - If you have a process using 30% of your cpu - this process will show 70%.
If your computer is doing nothing then this process should be displaying 99-100% cpu usage.

Have you got the power setting at balanced? Also check to make sure your HD or SSD connections are on properly and faulty HD or SSD drivers can cause this issue..

Not an expert in this area so hopefully others can jump in...

No problems at all....After a bit of searching the most relevant info seems to be a driver issue...Have you checked the device manager in windows to see whether there are any yellow warning symbol on any device?

Also in Task Manager can you see any service or process hogging max resources? If there are any, what are they and shut them down...

Also in Task Manager under 'Start up' disable any non essential programmes that are starting up at boot....I tend to turn most crud things off and leave it to a minimum.

Sorry I can't be more of a help and hopefully others better than me...and there are a lot on Tom's forums can jump in and help...
