[SOLVED] High CPU usage (80-100) in Fortnite.

Recently I have noticed an issue that only happens in Fortnite causing my CPU usage to spike to 100. I know high CPU usage (80ish) on its own is not much of an issue but there are noticeable stutters that occur when the usage spikes up higher. I have tried updating my BIOS and re-installing the game as well as capping my FPS at 160. I leave task manager open while I am playing and close all other unnecessary processes/ programs except Discord and Spotify. I play on all low settings and resolution.

My current setup should be well above the minimum requirements for the game so any help identifying the issue would help greatly.
This usage does not occur in any other games.

PC SPECS:
Win 7
i5 4690K
GTX1050
16gb DDR3 RAM
H97 Gaming 3 mobo
144Hz Monitor

Try capping your FPS either just below 144 or just above, don't use task manager to monitor resources its bad, use MSi Afterburner/Riva Tuner to monitor resources, specifically CPU usage/temps and GPU usage/temps, and Ram usage. Is your i5 overclocked?

I have been trying capping my fps at 144 with no difference. I just downloaded MSI afterburner and played a few games, my CPU usage was around 85-95, temps were consistent around 70C. GPU usage was about 70% and temps were about 55C. RAM usage was around 7gb/16 or so used. My i5 is not overclocked however I have tried overclocking it using the OC genie in my mobos BIOS.

So while using afterburner did you see any CPU spikes? Don't cap at 144 fps try 142 or 146, are all your drivers up to date? Are your power settings on performance? Did you try overclocking recently and running Fortnite? If you feel confident try manually OC as this is always better than an automated one, reallyu helpful info here http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/answers/id-3464571/safe-4690k.html.

Solution
All my drivers are up to date as best as I can do. However, in device manager if I expand processors and then right click on one of them it says it is from 2006. Not sure if this is updateable but figured I would ask. My CPU was occasionally spiking up to 100% which is when I would see a big stutter in game. And I think my power settings were on balanced as there was some other thread that suggested high performance might be the issue (it wasn't). I'll try manually overclocking tomorrow I have an exam today. Thanks for all your help so far :)
