Hi there,

My buddy is having an issue with his CPU Usage, here are his specs:

MOBO: Gigabyte Technology Z97X-SLI
i5-4590 @ 3.3GHz
Memory: 16GB
GPU: GTX 1070

So my friend booted his PC up today and started playing a game, to find that he's lagging intensely.
He made no changes to it last night or today, simply started running H1Z1 to notice doors were opening slowly and such.
He opened task manager and found that CPU Usage was around 80% with H1Z1 being higher than its usual.
Even a low usage game (Battlerite) was hitting up to 50 and 60%, much too high for a game of its caliber.

He has the latest version of directx, a Windows support member had him reinstall/refresh the OS and still no results. I had him update everything in Device Manager, nothing.

If anyone has any insight on what this issue may be caused by, it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Hi,
Windows support member had him reinstall/refresh the OS
Strange...
To be able whats going on:
Click Start > just type prest or perf> in the list click 'Performance monitor'
See here: 5 Ways to Open Performance Monitor on Windows 10
http://www.isunshare.com/windows-10/5-ways-to-open-performance-monitor-on-windows-10.html

Then with this open, you wlil have three columns, now, click at the little arrow so it is pointed downwards.
You will discover that each column, in each box that the CPU, Disk usage and etc. will be sorted as the most demanding process from the top.

come back and tell us the result.

What bit is the game? 64-bit or 32-bit (Usually if it is 32-bit, it will appear as AppName (32-bit).exe and 64-bit if it appear as AppName.exe . I don't know why but I ran Steam (32-bit) on my Win 10 Pro Anniversary Update 64-bit and my CPU usage goes haywire and my notebook spews out very hot air. But as soon as I reinstalled a 64-bit version everything ran smoothly.

Thank you for the replies, my friend was lazy and would not send me resource monitor information.
Also, to my knowledge, the game was 64-bit and GPU usage was low.

I will be posting another thread as my computer is now facing the same issue, but with idling instead.

Hello, I am new to this site (sort of), and was wondering how did you run steam in 64 bit? did you download a 64bit version of steam? and where'd you get it? and reply is helpful, thanks.
