Hi,

I recently upgraded my Windows 7 installation from Home premium to Ultimate with Windows Anytime Upgrade, and now, I just noticed that my CPU goes to around 30-50% usage at the instant that I lock my computer, also the CPU temperature goes up to around 60-70 according to Core Temp. I can't remember if this happened before the upgrade.
This happens at the moment that I lock the computer, the CPU goes under load and the fan spins up, but then when I unlock it, at that same moment, my CPU returns back to 1-5% usage, and the temps go down to normal.

My Specs:

Lenovo B570-1068AHU
CPU: Intel Mobile Core i3 2330M
RAM: 8GB
Video Card: Intel HD Graphics 3000
HDD: 500GB (WD5000BPKX)

Any Ideas?

Thanks in advance

Hey,

I'll take a shot in the dark. My first thought was some type of conflicting software issue. It appears you are using a laptop, and boy do those laptop companies love putting crapware on their PCs. Start by seeing if Lenovo has any temperature monitoring software running on your system. We can go from there. If you do, it may be causing this weird issue.

Ok, so I booted my computer in safe mode and it ran super fine, the cpu stayed in 0 % usage when locked, and when I was in the desktop.

Things that I noticed:

1. There is always HDD activity when the computer is not in safe mode and is locked, and in safe mode there was no activity at all.
2. When the computer is not in safe mode and it is unlocked (I am in the desktop) there is more HDD activity compared to when the computer was in safe mode.
3. ALSO, when I lock my computer, it takes around 1-3 seconds to lock (without being in safe mode). But, when I am in safe mode, it locks instantly.
