Hello, I'm experiecing problem with unknown high CPU usage. I had Windows 8 64bit, any problems for years with it ever, then I reinstalled to Win 8.1 64 bit (new HDD) and there the first problem has occured after some days of using. I was playing Battlefield 4 as usuall, where I never had any problem with lags or frame drops or something. But it started with lag spikes and sound stops so I opened Task Manager and MSI Afterburner and saw that CPU has 100% usage but BF4 used my CPU whole time no more than 60%...(Temps are good)Task manager was showing 100%, but no processes except BF4 which has only 55% of it were running. So I tried everything : malwarebots, spywarebots, antivirus checks, RKill,TDSkill and changing my Win accounts and at the end I managed to reinstall my Windows. So I clean installed Win 10 64 bit Pro, all problems gone and I was satisfied, everythings worked for 3 months until yesterday...Same problem as Win 8.1....I can't play games I used to without problems...cuz that full usage...PC in idle doin sometimes 80% CPU with 7 gigs of ram and no program or app is running...I have read all topics with problem as I have and tried to do all steps to eliminate it but unsuccessfuly. Everything I suspected are processes in Task Manager named svchost.exe showing usage from 20% and more. Some of 'em are suspended (don't know why I can't resume them)Please, help me...I'm not a newbie but my nervs are gone...I'm tired of reinstalling Windows and system recovers....

I can provide you screenshots if it helps...

Solution
Then I presume that a patch or a Windows update was installed and it may be causing the issue. What happens if you start the service again? If the issue continues, then I would uninstall the audio drivers and reinstall the latest version.
What service is running under the busy svchost? Run tasklist /svc /fi "imagename eq svchost.exe" from a command line and then check which PID corresponds to the svchost.exe that uses 20% or more of the CPU.

You can reinstall Windows, but fixing the issue should be less time consuming.

It's PID 976. What do I do now ?

You did it ! I found what it's causing with your instructions. But I had to stop process named Windows Audio Endpoint Builder so my audio is disabled but CPU and games are running just like the old times. Please tell me what now to maintain it, but with audio working of course.

Finally ! I appreciate your help so much. It was caused by my old Creative Sound Blaster Audigy 4 and it's old drivers. I removed it from MB and uninstall Creative drivers aaaand here we go. Thank you again.

Exactly, but I would never believe that some awful audio driver could do problems of this type and size...So easy repair, when I realise how many times I reinstalled Windows and recovered it with all them hints like virus scan and other stuff...
