[SOLVED] high disk usage

New Seagate Sata 6gbp/s 7200 hard drive seems to have continuously high usage. Can hear it running all the time and everythying seems pretty slow as a result.
Task manager shows no apps using it excessively, yet disk usage % number stays high. On my other pc with a simlar state it shows disk usage 1%

Tried reinstalling windows and same deal. Any ideas?

perhaps the resource monitor might offer a clue.

Also try Resource Monitor and Process Explorer to discover other things that may be running in the background.
