I'm looking at building a $5000 gaming rig that has to be gaming on ultra settings on a 2560x1440 screen. Games like company of heroes 2 , metro 2033 and crysis 3 must be able to be played fluently at 60+ fps on ultra. That is, this rig must be seriously kicking some ass. Any suggestions as to the parts needed to make this a full-blown reality?

Solution

Umm, a $1500 will easily play the upcoming titles maxed out.

Really? And will that $1500 build be future proof, that is, will it be able to run the next few so-called gpu killer games on ultra settings? Prbably not.

Ok, what would be the parts you suggest? I am also planning on getting a 4k resolution monitor within the next 6 months, and so my resolution may very well be much higher than the 2560x1440 monitor. With all that in mind, do you honestly think that a $1500 build will cut it?

Precisely what I am planning to do within the next 6 months, but that isn't part of the $5000. But if anyone can suggest a much cheaper build for what I am planning to do, then I am open to suggestions.

Just the case and guts, will be getting a 4k monitor soon (not part of the budget) to replace the 2560x1440 monitor

Get maximus vi formula instead of hero or MSI Mpower MAX

Good build here:though think I'd kick up to the 4770K, change the DRAM to the 2x8GB 2133 Tridents (Haswell scales up well with DRAM even in gaming) and change the GPUs to Asus or EVGA - won't touch MSI due to poor QC

Well, since you have the $5000 budget here is something absolutely overkill -

SLI titans will last you awhile

Yeah, EVGA would be probably better since people seems to be having highly-rated opinions about their warranty services.

That's more of what I am talking about. How about adding another Titan and making it 3-way SLI since I do have the money?
