Hi. Soon I will finally be ordering the parts for my gaming PC. The goal is to create a system capable of playing all the latest games at a high frame rate and in full HD. I am new to building PC's and, before I place the orders, I would very much appreciate it if someone could quickly look over this list of hardware to check its compatibility together and with the motherboard. I have been consulting a friend about this but I'd like to get your perspectives anyway, just to be sure.

Also, I do have maneuverability in regards to the price range, so if there are any personal recommedations they too would be welcome. However, I am already spending quite a lot of money here, so nothing too extravagant please.

Thank you for your time.

Solution
ur case ll fit fine...dont wrry abt tht...

"I am keeping the RAM and hard drive as planned"..."And - WD 2 TB Performance Desktop Hard Disk Drive"... keeping or changing??? that is not very clear???
irrespective of that, both shd be ok...

rest is all gud...u shd be fine...
first of all...its a very gud build...u got sum serious stuff there...a few suggestions though...
u shd consider the gtx 1070 over the 980ti...its faster, more advanced and a lot more future proof due to the current technology, at around the same price...
instead of the toshiba drive, go for WD Black or Blue...not too different, but they are welknown for their reliability...

last and most important...that cpu cooler supports these boards...Processor Socket Socket AM2, Socket AM3, Socket B (LGA 1366), Socket FM1, Socket FM2, Socket H (LGA 1156), Socket H2 (LGA 1155), Socket H3 (LGA 1150), Socket R (LGA 2011), Socket R (LGA 2011-v3)...urs is a LGA1151...i might be wrong, but it doesnt luk compatible...so double check that before ordering...

all the best...cheers...

Asus z170 A or Pro - no need to spend that much on a mobo.

Do you need a 2TB hdd on a gaming rig? 500gb ssd gets you 5 huge games, multiple smaller ones, plus OS and programs.

2x8 GB of ram. 32 does absolutely nothing unless you are planning to run multiple VMs.

1k watts is a lot of overkill. You'd not touch even 750W if you went SLI on the 1070.

BTW 1070 is plenty for 1080p (FHD) gaming, approaching overkill. 1070 is prime 1440p.

As it happens, I was already planning on getting a higher tier graphics card, but when I told my friend that I'm not aiming towards 4K resolution he told me to get the 980TI so I could, quote, "save some money". That was the card he recommended. Interesting.

Thanks for the cooler recommendations Hellfire. Will take a closer look later. :)

One thing I forgot to mention, I am looking for something that lasts here. Anything that keeps the system running smoothly and safely is a huge bonus in my book. I picked the 32 GB of RAM and 1000w power supply just for good measure.

well...keeping in mind that u r going for gaming primarily, anything above 16 to 20 gigs of ram is prrty much waste unless u r multi tasking with graphic intensive applications or editing/rendering simultaneously...also the newer cards, if u choose to go for a pascal or even a maxwell for that matter doesnt consume too much power as per the performance output...taking into account all the components here, a gud 750w quality psu shd suffice, even if u sli...but its ur money and ur decision at the end of the day...

Okay I've been looking around a bit and I've come to these conclusions. Please take a close look and see if it all checks out.

I am keeping the RAM and hard drive as planned (EDIT: I should have said 'hard drive storage space as planned'), but after careful consideration the other components I've put together are:

CPU cooler - Noctua NH-D14
https://www.amazon.co.uk/Noctua-NH-D14-Processor-LGA1366-LGA1156/dp/B002VKVZ1A/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1467535198&sr=8-1&keywords=Noctua+NH-D14+65.0+CFM+CPU+Cooler

Graphics card - MSI Nvidia Geforce GTX 1070
https://www.amazon.co.uk/MSI-Geforce-GTX-1070-Graphics/dp/B01GRCYKZK/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1467529354&sr=8-3&keywords=msi+1070+graphics+card

And - WD 2 TB Performance Desktop Hard Disk Drive
https://www.amazon.co.uk/Performance-Desktop-Hard-Drive-Cache/dp/B00FJRS628/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1467529495&sr=8-1&keywords=wd+black+2tb

I will also downgrade the PSU.

Does this seem good to everyone? I am a bit concerned about the size of a couple of the components as well. I've never done this before so it's hard to visualise everything fitting together, but I am using a large computer case either way.

Been awake all night haha. My mind is shutting down a bit. ;)

I'll stick around for a a day or so, to see if anyone else still has an opinion on something here.

May as well ask here now, a smaller question: What kind of screwdriver will I need for this? Will I need any spare screws?
Not as important obviously, but worth asking.
