Hey guys,

I want to build a high-end gaming PC. I have a budget of £1500 (2100 USD).

I want it to be Intel based. The parts I am looking into are:

~ i9 10850k CPU

~ RTX 3080 GPU

~ MSI MPG Z490 GAMING PLUS Mobo

I already have a gaming PC, with these parts:

~Corsair Graphite 780T Case

~Intel Core i5-2400 CPU

~ASUS P8P67 Mobo

~ZOTAC GTX980 AMP! Edition 4GB GPU

~16GB CORSAIR VENGEANCE DDR3

~OCZ 600W 80 PLUS PSU

~Kingston HyperX 120GB SSD Boot Drive

~Samsung 1TB HDD

~Samsung DVD Drive

I never built a PC, so I decided to ask you guys (The Experts). What should I leave, what should I buy, and what should I replace? Thanks.

Solution
You won't build that system on that budget. The GPU will cost more currently...

I would not reuse "anything"...I would not trust those new high end parts to an old PSU. Your "OS drive" is small by modern standard. Memory is wrong format to be reused. The storage drive might be worthwhile to bring over, but don't see that as a make or break aspect of the build.
Currently you will have little choice as to reusing the GPU, and the case is, well, a case so if it fits your needs and fitment, and you like it....

No idea what your monitor resolution is and that's important in regards to your choice of gpu. GPU prices are the worst they've ever been tmk. Graphics cards are going for three times their normal price atm due to the extreme chip shortage. With that said this will give you an idea of what you're looking at cost wise. btw this build will allow you to run that cpu with the power limits turned off in the bios.

I would sell your current PC as a whole. I wouldn't reuse anything from a system of that vintage.

Any particular reason for wanting Intel? The 10850k is a very good CPU, but the Ryzen 5 5800x is often a better choice.
Both of those cpu's will kill the OPs budget imo. The 10850K is going for 349 quid atm and it gets worse from there when you add the Z490 board. The 5800X is going for 388 quid and then figure cost of MB along with 3600Mhz RAM.
