so been a few years sense my last build but tried to keep up on things in the interim. planning on building a bit of a beast. do not need new monitors as i already have a few. and i do not care about looks just that case has great airflow.
im planning on buying everything between black Friday and cyber Monday. I'm getting a valve index.

already own 6tb hard drives and 500gb ssds but might get a m.2 to improve speed
have a bluray burner already so no needing any of that

so for the build
planning on getting an rtx3080
at this point intel has lost almost all ground to amd for cpu so ill get what ever is better for my dollar.

motherboard i assume i should be going with pcie gen 4.
power supply with a little head room incase i add on
no water cooling as i had bad experiences with it don't want to have to worry about it

my budget is high but not insane $2,000 is a pretty hard limit so graphics card does take up nearly half it.

gaming wise i plan to play vr on it.
and when playing on a screen probly only play it at 1080p 60fps so not pushing it to its limit for first few years

any recommendations? thanks and have a great day

Valve Index System Requirements

Pretty much any current, mid-range processor is going to be enough for the Index, so you don't need to go uber high end for that. Graphics is going to be your main concern. I don't see any issues given your budget. I would probably start with something like this:

PCPartPicker Part List

CPU: Intel Core i7-10700K 3.8 GHz 8-Core Processor ($377.77 @ B&H)
CPU Cooler: be quiet! Dark Rock Pro 4 50.5 CFM CPU Cooler ($89.90 @ Amazon)
Motherboard: Asus PRIME Z490-P ATX LGA1200 Motherboard ($159.99 @ Amazon)
Memory: G.Skill Ripjaws V Series 32 GB (2 x 16 GB) DDR4-3200 CL16 Memory ($99.99 @ Newegg)
Case: NZXT H510 ATX Mid Tower Case ($69.98 @ Amazon)
Power Supply: SeaSonic FOCUS Plus Gold 850 W 80+ Gold Certified Fully Modular ATX Power Supply ($154.99 @ B&H)
Total: $952.62
Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available
