high end pc getting really low fps

I'm really new to pc gaming and i recently got a pc. it's a good pc but games like battlefront 2 and overwatch are running on really low fps [average: 60 fps].

specs:

Windows 10

ROG Strix Geforece GTX 1080ti

Intel core i7 8700k 3.70Ghz

G.Skill Ripjaws 16gb DDR4 ram

TUF Gaming Z370-Plus Motherboard

Seagate Baracuda 1Tb HDD

Plextor M.2 SSD 256 gb

ROG Swift PG248Q monitor

This is my last resort. I've been researching about this. I would not be posting this if I were not out of options.

check that the monitor is connected to the GPU and not to the mother board video outputs.
Check that the V-Sync is not enabled.

Thank you for responding, yes it is connected to the GPU and V-Sync is off.

V-Sync off in both games and nvidia control panel?
if yes, install something like MSI Afterburner and check the following for both CPU and GPU while gaming:
Utilization
Frequency
temperature

Both games have a displayed based fps lock. You have to turn this off/up to get higher fps.
