Virtually the same system I put together, with the exception that I am running a four 1TB drives in a RAID configuration, and the case/power supply.

I think you'll be very pleased with it. In some of my initial testing (aka play) I've been amazed at the video transcoding speed allowed by the 2600K processor, rather than just CUDA processing, as in my previous system. I can render virtually and effect in real time in Premier and complex filters in Photoshop are instantaneous. This is performance I could only dream about a couple of...

Do you know if they have fixed any of the BSOD issues with the OCZ Vertex 3? I am worried about its reliability as well.

I also read a large amount of poor feedback on the Rosewill RCR-IC001. Any other suggestions?

Wireless is preferred.

The OCZ Vertex 3 sure is a popular SSD on this forum, but I'd still like to hear to some other recommendations/comparisons with other ~120gb SSDs.

Does anyone see any compatibility problems with this build? What about my PSU and cooling choices?

I just purchased an almost identical system (the same motherboard and processor) for Photoshop and Premier editing.

The ASUS motherboard you are looking has a dual channel support for the memory. Therefore, you probably don't want to get the memory you were looking at. I would recommend the following from Newegg:

CORSAIR Vengeance 16GB (4 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model CMZ16GX3M4A1600C9

I would recommend one of the RevoDrive3 SSD. Mine boots Windows 7 Pro 64 in less than 7 seconds and Photoshop Pro CS5 64-bit in less than 5 seconds.

mjmjpfaff made a great monitor recommendation for photo/video editing. I use an IPS monitor myself, but they are not the best for gaming, if that's important to you.

If you are really serious about photo/video editing, I would recommend the Spyder 3 Express (or pro/elite if you have the budget) for the calibration of your monitor.

I just remembered that the 560ti is not supported by Adobe Premiere. Therefore, I'll be sticking with the 570 gtx.

I want to lower this amount by around $200, perhaps by downgrading the blu-ray burner (Asus SATA 24x, $20.99), boot drive (crucial m4 128gb), RAM (12gb), Card reader (Rosewill RCR-IC001 $14.99), or mobo (p67). Any suggestions/components you think are overkill?

I know the 570 gtx I selected is a triple slot card coming in at 11.5". Does anyone know my case will be able to take it?

As stated earlier, I'm hoping to get two 23-24" monitors and one 32" LCD/LED TV. How will I be able to achieve this if my mobo only has one hdmi port?

You may want to go with Windows 7 Professional as Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit supports only up to 16GB.
Your ram is going to interfere with the Hyper 212+
A cheap card reader does he same as that the one you picked and there is no need to grab one right away. Get a external as they're more convenient.

Hmmmm. Sorry for my n00bishness, but...

What are some of the advantages/disadvantages of the workstation specific CPU and mobo you recommended (Intel Xeon E3-1240, Asus P8B WS) over the ones I was thinking about? I saw the Intel Xeon E3-1240 pop up a couple times in this thread, but it would be nice to seem some justification for this decision.

You're right, I may want to upgrade to over 16gb of ram, so win7 professional may be a wise choice.

I'll probably go with the Rosewill RCR-IC001 40-in-1 USB 2.0 3.5" Internal Card Reader w/ USB Port / Extra Silver Face Plate

Will this RAM fit with the hyper 212+? How can I tell?

xeon processors are better for what you are doing for sure

you cant use tri channeled ram get 16gb's

the hyper 212 plus should be fine with any ram

Xeons go through a more rigorous testing as they are designed for servers and workstations to work in a 24/7/365 environment.
About the ram interference, most people don't notice it because they focus on OCing. For this, 2 of the slots will always be empty for
the sake of not putting stress on the memory controller. When a person has this type of setup then any cooler will work since there
are no ram installed in the slot closest to the CPU.
For your setup, you will have to use all 4 ram slots and due to that, you are required to get ram with standard heatsinks. Standard heatstinks aren't crap and these comb shapes like them RipJaw don't offer better cooling.
I've decided to select the AC Freezer 13 Pro is has 2 fans, a 120mm and a 50mm hidden under the base where it helps
cool the NB and VMs that surrounds the processor.

Taking a closer look at the Xeon, it's got the same frequency as a Core i5 2500, but it has HT and a larger L3 cache which
make it a Core i7. The Core i7 2600 cost around $300 while the Xeon E3-1240 is at $265. Core i7 2600 is 100MHz faster in terms of clock speed.
The only thing with the E3-1240 is, it does not have internal graphics thus it's rated at 80w TDP. The E3-1245 has so it's rated at 95w TDP and has a higher price tag. Xeons do not have unlock multipliers.

If you are going to be doing a lot of photo/video editing, I hope you decide to spring for the Spyder. I never thought it would make as much of a difference as it has. What the camera sees is what I see on my monitor and that matches what comes off the printer. For less than $100.00, it's well worth every penny. I have a friend that's a professional photographer that spent nearly $1000.00 for a monitor calibration device just a couple of years ago.

I almost forgot to add, go with Win 7 Pro, as others have stated. There are a host of reasons why I do, not the least of which is the memory limitations. I love using remote desktop when I'm away from home and need something.

All looks good, but remember, the 2500k, and 2600k, favor 1600 Mhz ram, any higher, you won't notice a difference, but lower, you might be able to tell, yet it would be barely noticeable. Just thought i'd throw in my 2 cents.
