High GPU heat leading to artifacts

Hi everyone. A similar time last year I posted a thread about high GPU temps which led to artifacts, then black screens and crashes. I was given multiple solutions and I thought that applying new thermal paste to the GPU fixed it. I live in a very hot country and I think I've come to realization that I did not fix it, the room temperature just got cooler. My GPU gets to temperatures up to 90C when playing demanding games. It's an MSI r9 290x Lightning.

It's now that time of year again where the temperature is very high. (30C+) I'm now experiencing the same artifacts then blackscreen and crashing again and at this point I'm not sure what to do. Is my only option to underclock the card? I was also informed about cooling. If it means anything my case is a thermaltake s71 urban and it already has preinstalled fans on the front, rear and top so I believe the airflow is not an issue? I also regularly clean my PC of dust with compressed air.

Thanks.

You want the fan in the front set up to pull air into the case. All the other fans you want to blow air out of the case. Sorry that picture isn't the easiest to follow I did make some mistakes, but overall it's correct with the exception of the arrow in the front of the case facing the wrong direction. Making sure you have good air flow is the only thing I can suggest if you can't cool the room down.
If I recall correctly the R9 290x used to reach the high 90ºC during most benchmarks, combined that with your high room temperature your best bet is to improve your room temps, no matter how many fans you add to your case if the air that you pull in is already hot it won't help at all.

Is the fan running at 100%? And can you tell at what RPM the fan is running? The more volume the fan pushes the more cooling effect it has. What kind of fan do you have pulling air into the front of the case? On closer inspection of that case you could have some air flow problems. here are my suggestions for air flow. Download hardware monitor, and check overall system temps. http://www.cpuid.com/softwares/hwmonitor.html

Edit: The blue arrow in the from should be pointing the left into the case.

Thanks for the help. My fan is at auto and it runs at 100% when under heavy load. My GPU fans run at around 4000RPM under heavy load and both of my case fans run at 1000-1200RPM. I'm not sure what to do with the diagram you sent me though. I'm not really familiar with anything about fans in terms of where to place them, how to place them and the physics behind it.

Thanks for the help man I really appreciate it.

Yeah I kinda feel the same. Games run fine after an hour or so of constant A.C at 17C... Not sure what else I can do to be frank. Thanks for the help.
