Hello. I have some wierd problem which I cant seem to find a solution for from some time. The problem is that recently my GPU temps started to be sky high (70-80c) while my PC stay idle for longer then few mins (usualy 3-4 mins) and also my fan start spinning at 100% the same time. This problem also happen when I use my joystick to play games or when I watch movies and the result is a huge lag/delay. The problem dont happen at all if task manager is opened on the desktop. I read that the cause of this problem could be a virus which hide itself when task manager is opened but I run multiple times Malwarebytes, CC cleaner and other programs reccomended by various websites to no avail. I also reinstalled by GPU drivers with DDU and installed the newest drivers up to date, cleared my GPU fans from dust and yet again the problem persist. Pretty much I did everything I could and read countless threads about this to no avail. My GPU is R9 290 Tri-X by the way. Any help would be more then welcome.

So your card runs at 80C when idling or when gaming?. Try creating a custom fan curve that will kick the fans into gear at a lower temp using software such as MSI Afterburner, replace the thermal paste on the cards with some new paste such as Arctic-MX4 and make sure you are running a smooth airflow setup giving your cards plenty of breathing room. 80C isnt too high of a temperature for a 290x though, they can safely run up to around 90C.

EDIT: in terms of virus related possibilities open something like Afterburner and monitor what % of your GPU is being utilised when the system is idle. If it is quite low then chances are you dont have any malware.

It runs between 70-80c when idle on the desktop. With my HAF-X case I dont get more then 72c when run games like Witcher 3, Rise of the Tomb Raider etc. on max with AA and everything. Also I have a custam fan curve and an OC on my GPU and I use "Sapphire TRIXX". My temperature is at 37-38c while idle on the desktop and GPU usage is as low as 5% then after 2-5 mins my GPU usage jump to 100% temp. become between 70-80c and fan spin at 100% until I move my mouse and like I said nothing of this happen if 'Task Manager' is open on the desktop so I guess its not related to GPU thermal paste or hardware.

EDIT: I think that I found out what couse the problem. I installed 'Process Explored' and started to monitor what is happening with my GPU after about 2 mins of idle a process called 'rifhp.exe' start and immedietly after it my GPU usage jump to 100% and fan start to spin on 100%. The moment I move my mouse the process dissapear and GPU is back to normal. I manage to track process location but when I check the path it simply dont exist.

2nd-EDIT: I manage to fix this myself had to download the newest version of Malwarebytes because older ones couldnt detect the virus.
