As the title says, I have the problem with high HDD usage in idle. I can guarentee I do not have any malware because the PC with this issue is not connected to Internet, and I did not transfer any files between that PC and this PC. But, interestingly, HDD usage decreases when I am playing games (Minecraft, Call of Duty 6, BF3...). Please help me ASAP

Solution
Check your running processes. By that game list I assume Windows is involved. There are two/three things to look for. Microsoft's Malicious Software Removal Tool (part of Windows updates), Microsoft Defender (Anti-Virus/Ant--malware), and Disk defragmentation. In Vista and later the disk defragments itself when idle.

If you run another anti-virus program or a Data loss prevention application these two can increase hard drive idle loads, but give those resources back when you launch a resource intensive application.

Also, patch Tuesday was yesterday, so it may also be our old friend the .NET Optimizer.
