High idle and load temps on a i7-930

Hello there. I'm having troubles with the temps on my i7-930 with Cooler Master Hyper TX3 Evo. Idle temps (stock, not overclocked at all) are in the high 40's and load temps (while testing with any benchmarking software or playing any demanding game) go up to 72-73.

I'm really confused as to why are these temps so high even with an aftermarket cooler and no overclocking, I know that they should be at least 10c lower, maybe more. The case is this one with a rare 120mm fan included. I'm also using Arctic Silver 5 thermal compound for the CPU. Any help for me to lower the temps would be great.

IMHO it doesn't really matter as long as you don't use too much. I use the pea sized blob, erring on the side of too little. You might have gotten an air bubble in it last time. A bonus to removing your heat sink is that you'll get to see what the last application looked like and verify that you had good contact.

73°C at load certainly isn't cause for concern; I wouldn't worry about it. Does it throttle if you run Prime95 Small FFTs?
