High Idle Load

Hi there, I recently installed an i5 6600 and a B150 Plus D3 motherboard, everything seemed to work fine, but even after a clean/minimal boot the idle load on my Coretemp is around the 50's%, and this doesn't seem normal because my FX 6300 never idled at that high load.

Does anyone know what could be the problem?

Hi,

Can you run Cinebench, run the CPU benchmark and upload the result.

While you are running this benchmark, open your task manager, go to the performance tab then the CPU tab. Whilst the test is running, take a screenshot of your task manager and upload it.

this is not needed, Cinebench. With the system idle open task manager and look and see what is using the CPU. this will tell you what programs are using the CPU making the CPU's temp be this high.

It is also possible the CPU cooler was not installed properly causing a high temp. But first look at the programs running to tell if this is the case

I think it is the actual load % that is the issue, not the temps.
I asked Vesper to run cinebench to look at how his chip is performing, the task manager was more to see clock speeds when benchmarking and if chipset drivers are installed correctly.

Correct, my temps are pretty okay when idle, at around 25C, but when I have no background programs running the load is at a constant 40-50%, which incidentally increases core temp a bit, but still not the issue.

And I've skimmed through my active processes in the Task manager and didn't see anything that would cause my load to be that high.

Still the point remains if you look at the process tab, in task manager, without cinebench running you will see what is using the CPU. If you have cinebanch running that will be the main use and could cause a process to stop using the CPU due to the load. Temp issue or not this is how you can tell what exactly is using the CPU. Doing this will show you the programs making the usage high.

BTW it is always best to include the OS and system specs when asking for help. From your screen shot I can tell you are using Win 7.
