Question High idle temp of 70c with RTX 3070 GPU

Hi,

My MSI RTX 3070 GPU is idling at 70c and maxing at just over 80c in-game. It is just 7 months old. My case has 3 intake fans so airflow is not the issue I believe. I have undervolted the GPU today and it is now idling at 40c and maxing at 75c in-game.

Why is my GPU idling at such a high temp? The max temp seems normal but the idle is too high without the undervolt.

Did you manually adjust the fan curve, eg with MSI Afterburner? My 3070Ti (Gainward Phoenix) does not idle that high and runs at about 72°C max under load, and one would assume that a big premium vendor like MSI would slap a good cooler on the card, compared to Gainward. Or at least set the fan curve so it makes sense...
