High Idling Temps

I had a GTX970 G1 Gaming from Gigabyte for a long time now (about 4 years),

The temps were so good for me that it would idle around 30C, but 6 months ago and till now it's idling hard and thermal throttling while on load.

Idling temps are around 43C while the case is open and 52 while it's closed.
Without being overclocked, the GPU clock is always at the 1170 MHz range, while I have a GTX960 that would go down to 200MHz while not using any GPU demanding app.

I have 4 case fans spinning, 2 are feeding and 2 exhaust, and disassembled the GPU heatsink to clean it properly.

What could be wrong?

Solution
It could be that GPU thermal paste whent faulty for some reason... You can always replace it. There are some tutorials in youtube about how to change this thermal paste properly.
Also it could be that other Temps are affecting this... Maybe the ambience temps changed and thats why you are getting higher temps or even a minor problem on your CPU or your whole PC that is too dusty are indirectly affecting the GPU temps...
Check that out
