High memory usage

Hi,

As the topic says, I am using a lot of RAM and I don't know why. In Task Manager -> Performance, it says I'm using 5.8GB/7.9GB RAM (paged and non-paged pool both at around 370MB and commited memory at 6.6/15.9GB). But when I go to Task Manager -> Users, it says I'm only using 1.9GB RAM and I am the only user. Is this normal?

This laptop is less than a month old. Neither MemTest or RamMap says there is any damage to my RAM and I ran a scan with Malware Bytes and AVG and they both came up empty. I don't know if it affects my RAM in any way but I also disabled the indexing service when I got the laptop to improved the SSHD speed.

Any help would be appreciated!

My Specs:
Windows 8.1 64-bit
Intel i7-4720
8GB RAM
Intel HD Graphics 4600 + NVIDIA GTX 960M

I forgot to mention that my laptop also has high temperatures when I leave it on for a while. When I restart my laptop, it says I'm using 2GB RAM and my temp is at 40°C or so. But after a couple hours, the RAM usage climbs up to 5GB+ and the temperature is between 60-70°C even though my CPU usage is around 10% with just 6 tabs of Chrome open and Skype, Steam Razer Surround and AVG running in the background.

EDIT: Also my old laptop was also running Windows 8.1 and I rarely went over 2GB/8GB RAM when idle even though I have exactly the same programs installed.

Is there any solution to this? It's starting to be a problem now. Whenever I run a fullscreen game and alt-tab, the laptop hangs and basically nothing responds until 5 minutes later. After I finally shut down any fullscreen game, everything takes 5-10 seconds to show up (alt-tabbing between explorer or chrome windows or even trying to open the start menu). During this time, my CPU usage rarely exceeds 30%.

At this very moment, according to Task Manager, my processes which I see in the Users tab says I'm using 990MB RAM. In my Performance tab, it says 6.1GB is in use. Does this mean that Windows 8 doesn't run on any PC with 4GB RAM?

EDIT: Also when I alt-tab out of a game everything is really really slow even though the CPU usage isn't surpassing 25% but I'm somehow using 7.6/7.9GB RAM

Well I reinstalled Windows and all the programs that I use and replaced my 1TB SSHD with a 1TB SSD. Not sure which fixed it but I'm currently using 3.7 of 7.9GB RAM with my active processes using 1.5GB RAM according to Task Manager.
