high ping caused by router

i usually pay league of legends and cs go with 60 - 70 ms but after i while i get 160 - 170 ms when tat hapens i unplug router and go modem direct i got 60 - 70 ms but when i plug the router again 160 - 170 again and yes i checked if someone was lagging but it happens too when only im using the internet if someone can help me pls ( it doesnt matter if im wifi or LAN happens to both)

Trying turning QoS off in your router. Try to determine your optimal MTU http://kb.netgear.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/19863/~/ping-test-to-determine-optimal-mtu-size-on-router. Some say that changing your DNS to google or opendns may help.
