High Ping in CS:GO

Hello,

I've been having high ping only when I play counter strike. Usually my ping is around 50 in game, but all morning my ping has been 100-300, which makes the game unplayable. Also, when my ping is good, it'll occasionally spike up to over 600 for about 30 seconds. pingtest.net says my ping is 16ms. I've tried a number of different solutions, but none of them have worked long term. Please help, thanks!
Also, I only know the basics when it comes to networking so don't assume I'll know what you're talking about. sorry 🙁

No. How do I do that? thanks for a response i would like to add that i don't think it's my router because i've hooked up to different routers and still get a ping 100-300. (don't know if that helps but it's something)

my computer is connected via LAN to a router, which is an access point to the main router

do "tracert [game server ip]" and see what you get at each hop. You should see one of the hops suddenly increase with latency if something is really wrong.
